Child and Family Services Reviews

The Child and Family Services Reviews (CFSRs) are a joint effort between Federal and State staff aimed at strengthening safety, permanency, and well-being outcomes for children. The National Child Welfare Center for Innovation and Advancement (NCWCIA) supports public child welfare agencies throughout the CFSR process by partnering with them to examine data and engage the voices of individuals with lived experience and other system and community partners to address challenges and develop innovative, jurisdiction-driven solutions.

No matter where jurisdictions are in the CFSR process, NCWCIA’s tailored, data-driven assistance is designed to build internal capacity to improve practice and outcomes. We assist with assessments of performance on all aspects of the CFSR, help jurisdictions identify ways to strengthen their effective use of data and evidence, and offer both flexibility and accountability as we support completion of CFSRs and Program Improvement Plans (PIPs). NCWCIA integrates qualitative insights gathered through engagement with individuals with lived experience, which complements traditional performance data, into our assessment and planning work with jurisdictions.
